Excursion to the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology
Guided tour through the IMBA with presentations by Vic Small and Josef Penninger
On May 26, 2010, there was an excursion to the IMBA, the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology in Vienna. Oliver Resch gave an introduction to the functional principles of the available transmission electron microscopes (such as the FEI TF30 Polara, the only one in Austria with such features). Afterwards, Vic Small held a lecture on the mechanics and control of cell movement. Josef Penninger, scientific director of the IMBA, provided an overview of current research interests and the general profile of the IMBA as a research institution. He concluded the excursion with a Q&A session with the participants.
