Beyond The Track: A Talk About Tracking And Awareness
Lecture with Roland Maurmair
From an evolutionary point of view the art of tracking animals can be seen as a preliminary stage of literacy. This ability
helped human development greatly but it is less and less appreciated in our civilised environment. Everything is tagged and
labelled. We use modern technology to locate our position and we abandon our instincts. Besides the often-quoted flair, comparable
with the ability to scent in animals, humans need all their senses for reading tracks. These are the best apps we possess.
