Entry requirements

The requirements for admission to the Art & Science master’s programmes are artistic and/or scientific aptitude (evaluated on the basis of the admissions process) and to have completed the minimum of a domestic (or equivalent international) Bachelor study in any discipline. Candidates should show a special interest in transdisciplinary projects and the ability to deal with techniques that experiment with different methods and media. The 2-year programme is held in English so candidates should also be comfortable in conversing and writing in this language.

Application Procedure

Phase 1) Submission & registration


The following should be emailed
 to 
(as a PDF, max. 5 MB or via links to shared drive – especially video/audio-files – naming convention: LastName_FirstName_Portfolio/ LoM/ CV)

– Letter of motivation stating your interest in art and science as well as in the approach of the course (What do I expect from the course? Why do I want to take this study? What is my professional vision for the future?)
– Digital portfolio with your artistic and/or scientific works (Physical portfolios can be submitted in addition, but a digital version is mandatory; if your thesis is not in German/English, please translate the abstract only.)

– Curriculum vitae (CV) including contact information (telephone, email)

Following the email submission, for registration (Application-Form to be filled in and signed) a personal appearance at our office is obligatory!
 

Phase 2) Tasks
 (written and practical)

The second phase lasts two days and consists of two conceptual/creative tasks in the fields of art and science to be completed in English (for applicants whose portfolios were accepted).
 

Phase 3) Interview


In the third phase, the candidate’s aptitude for the programme is reviewed in a short personal interview with the team (with applicants who have passed written and practical work).

Prerequisite is an inquisitiveness that leads to a representation, a creative restructuring of the respective themes, in which the respective application or interweaving of certain artistic or scientific methods or media represents the result, and not the departure point, of the research.
