THE NATURE OF NATURE - CERN / HEPHY
2016-17
The first axis of the 'MULTINATURALISM' topic.
In the academic year 2016/2017 the “Roundtable” hosts the CERN/HEPHY project. The project work deals with the many facets a large and multinational institution like CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) offers. We investigate wide-ranging aspects; from the Large Hadron Collider to the smallprint of politics and economy, from particle accelerators to solid bureaucracy, from the Big Bang to the growth of conspiracy theories. In doing excursions to CERN in Geneva and/or HEPHY in Vienna we will try to become our own detectors for interesting byproducts of one of mankind’s most ambitious projects. Our project works develop during one year, consisting of a semester presentation in January 2017 and resulting in a final presentation in June 2017.
