About - Nikolaus Gansterer

Nikolaus Gansterer (*1974) lives and works in Vienna and Berlin. He studied transmedia art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and finished his postgraduate studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht. He co-founded the Institute for Transacoustic Research and the Vegetable Orchestra. Since 2007 he is lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In his visual work Gansterer focuses on mapping processes emerging out of cultural and scientific networks unfolding their immanent structures of interconnectedness.

Recent presentations of his work include "Living and Working in Vienna", Kunsthalle, Vienna; "Sonar Festival", CCCB, Barcelona; "Moving Patterns", ACF, New York; "Architecture of Interaction", Chisenhale Gallery, London; "Hard Rock Walzer", Villa Manin, Udine; "Wrong time, Wrong place", Tent, Rotterdam; "The Stone Road", Argos, Brussels; "Structures", Transmediale, Berlin; "Sound Escapes", Space Gallery, London; "Mifan", AnniArt Gallery, Beijing and "Story behold. Story be told" at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.
