Adapting natural mechanics to human technology using the example of an art installation

As fictional biology attempts to create believable biology, the research is mainly the process of collecting natural features, investigating coincidences, and establishing methods to adapt them in an artistic way.
While the installation’s concept includes basic sketches of the idea of the installation and technological proposals, the research uses methods of comparison and adaption to incorporate further improvements of design (structure, sizes) and underlying mechanisms (electronics, interface).
Nature is a rich repository from which inventors can introduce or improve new technologies. It is possible and useful to put up a scientific, theoretic basis in a scientific-themed artwork. Research and scientific work generally do not always limit artistic ways of ascertaining findings. Building up a theoretical background also increases the accuracy of concepts and augments the discovery of arising problems.
