Shadow Object, 70 x 70 x 40 mm
Digital Realization by Computer Graphics and Geometry Laboratory, Prof. Mark Pauly, EPFL
This object became part of the collection of the Friends of the Natural History Cabinet Association quite recently. It was developed in reference to research on the multiple and often contradictory facettes and descriptions of the platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) throughout times and cultures. In this sense, it is a visualization of the instability and context-dependency of scientific fact and truth.
