Is there a meaningful differentiation between artificial and natural materials?

With "Windkanter" (Ventifacts) Stefanie Koemeda installs a situation, that allows an appropriation to this particular question.

Stone-like objects lay on the floor as if they were collected from their spots where they were found and assemled here. These stones are exceptional, since they are objects from the future. Through sedimentation of materials produced by us humans - such as aluminium, clay and glass - rocks will form at all those sites on the planet where we build our big infrastructures.

The stones shown here consist of these very materials, but have undergone (fictive) geological processes. Now are they natural or artificial objects?
