MAYBE I AM A C.A.T. – CLOCKWORK – ANTHROPOCENE

Text by Rosie Benn

Invasive species … now what is that then? In ecology, the term invasive species is used to describe entities that spread beyond their native range, not necessarily harmful, but a serious challenge to local balance. Could a new road or climate change be an invasive species? What about tourism? And so the alien unravels and spawns with its metamorphosis. If we are on one hand an alien as we make a trip as a person, a researcher, artist, tourist across the transition zone1 and enter the green corridor,2,3 the zone in turn morphs into an alien, changes its skin. How do we welcome an alien? How would we as an alien wish to be welcomed? What does it mean instead to be a temporary citizen?4
