Anthropomorphic depictions of both natural and social phenomena have been part of mankind’s understanding of the world for the most part of its existence. Demons, gods, and allegories functioned as representations of aspects of reality, that encapsulated a totality of natural forces, social phenomena or abstract concepts alike. From the perspective of a modern society, which partially owes its technological advances, to the rejecting of such metaphysical entities, this way of thinking may seem plain primitive and archaic. In 'The structure of scientific revolutions' Kuhn points out, that paradigms can not be simply translated to the next paradigm, without producing a certain explanatory loss. What if the allegoric and anthropomorphic view on reality, can offer us something that goes beyond a poetic reinterpretation of the world?

The aim of the project is to explore an alternative account of social and historical phenomena, by experimenting with an alternative ontological system, that is founded on an expansion of the divine genealogy of the ancient Greek mythology. This particular pantheon of gods was chosen, because the structure of this divine family tree offers a unique way of defining identity. As Paula Philippson marked in her analysis of Hesiod's account of the divine genealogy, the sons and daughters may be regarded as a more specific realisations of the divine domains of the generation before. The idea is to translate this ancient epistemology into our modern day reality and try to find new explanatory structures, to make sense of phenomena such as social developments, technological advancements or home shopping channels. This might not only result in an interesting narrative, but may also help to shed a suprising light on certain relevant relations and driving forces of physical and social phenomena.
