Disrupted Control: Sound as material for content exchange

Workshop by Mario de Vega

One day seminar approaching the use of sound as conceptual practice in the field of Contemporary Art. During the seminar, students will discuss and access a selected archive including publishers as Supossé, Private, bølt, Tochnit Aleph, Edizioni Periferia, Ash International, ArtKillArt, Grünrekorder, Alga Marghen, Edition Bierammer, Selektion, XI, KMANYIN, m/s, and Faith Ways International, between others. A short selection of audiovisual documentation including works by Christian Vogel, Martin Arnold, Diether Roth, Roman Signer, Gordon Monahan, Charlemagne Palestine and Henri Chopin will also be discussed.

Through site-specific installations, sound, sculpture, documentation of ephemeral interventions, actions and publications in diverse formats, his research explores the value of failure, vulnerability and simulation. de Vega has lead seminars, workshops and talks at Universität der Künste Berlin, Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Technische Universität Berlin, Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, Braunschweig University of Art, KW Center for Contemporary Art, Laboratorio Arte Alameda, Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien, Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, Goucher College, ArtPlay Center, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center, between others. His work has been exhibited in different contexts throughout Mexico, North America, South Africa, India, Russia, Japan and around Europe.
