Visit to Angewandte's Conservation Institute

During Martin Reinhart's classes Transdisciplinarity in Art & Science and Experimental Studies the first year students visited
Angewandte’s Institute of Conservation.
In preparation for the visit, A&S alumna Martina Haselberger spoke about her work at this Institute of Conservation in the class. Martina is closely involved in the Joint Master Programme Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management, a collaboration between the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Silpakorn University in Bangkok. The programme focuses on transcultural approaches to conservation, combining academic research with hands-on restoration work in both Vienna and Bangkok. The week later, the class visited the Institute of Conservation for a guided tour with a special focus on pigments and color. In addition to a general introduction to the institute’s facilities and laboratories, Tatjana Bayerová – a renowned specialist in this field – shared insights into the technical aspects of pigment analysis and conservation.
