Despite the extensive use of the word ‘bye’ in our daily life, little is reflected on how difficult it is to embrace and adapt
to the absence and void left after a farewell. When faced with the process of grieving, we tend to retreat and experience
pain in the shadows.
With Dar a Luz, the artist creates a space for nurturing remembrance. By using the chlorophyll printing technique, light gives life to moments, feelings and people that are absent, reconstructing a tree of relations. By crocheting, memory takes the form of a thread connecting the past, present and future. And by inviting the viewer to participate in the creation of a communal print, the artist reflects on the influence of time within the processes of grieving and remembering and questions our awareness of the legacy we are establishing with our acts.
