Biobanks are types of bio-repositories which store, in most of the cases, human biological material for research purposes.
These institutions offer researchers the opportunity to have access to a multitude of data, representing a large number of
people, in order to conduct their studies. However, these institutions have been critically challenged regarding issues of
ethics and privacy. Therefore, developing and carefully implementing governing principles and policies is necessary. Which
are the limits between our own corporeality and the institutional one and how can we understand the feedback processes that
take place between the two?
κ(Α)-φ is an attempt to build a sculpture inside-out, by subtle artificial light manifestations, made from “data” recorded,
collected and organized in the process of its making. The initial cast for the paraffin sculpture is analogical to the torso
of a Κouros sculpture. These kinds of ancient Greek sculptures were either representations of the god Apollo or were placed
as commemorative tombstones of the deceased.
