Biobanks are types of bio-repositories which store, in most of the cases, hu¬man biological material for research purposes.
These institutions offer researchers the opportunity to have access to a multitude of data, representing a large number of people, in order to conduct their studies. However, these institu¬tions have been critically challenged regarding issues of ethics and priva¬cy. Therefore, developing and carefully implementing governing principles and policies is necessary. Which are the limits between our own corporeality and the institutional one and how can we understand the feedback process¬es that take place between the two?
κ(Α)-φ is an attempt to built a sculp¬ture inside-out, by sub¬tle artificial light manifestations, made from “data” recorded, collected and organized in the process of its making. The initial cast for the paraffin sculpture is analogical to the torso of a Κouros sculpture. These kind of ancient Greek sculptures were either representations of the god Apollo or were placed as commemorative tombstones of the de¬ceased.
