B.A.P-The Body Articulated as a Paradigm

This interactive installation is based on a re¬search which attempts to bring together two terms. One is the notion of “articulation” and the other one is the notion of the “paradigm”. Each of these notions has been developed by dif-ferent authors and philosophers. These terms were brought together in the research with the intention to help formulate a question regarding the ontological dimension of the human body. Under which conditions is it separated or formed through technology, within society, from the historical developments of these two interact¬ing with each other? Eventually, language was the site which outlined these processes and it was language that disclosed weather one would consider that the human body would belong or differ from something else.
The installation is developed in two parts. The first part is digital space containing elements categorized in groups of two, each group corre¬sponding to a letter of the (Greek) alphabet. The second one is an inflatable device which acts as a place to sit on, attached with inflatable arm and leg cases, so that the weight of one’s body when seated will inflate the arm and leg cases. This process “reforms” the users of the installa¬tion to become the last piece of the construc¬tion while experiencing the weight of their own being.
