Do You Not See That You Do Not See?
Our experience of the world is substantially shaped by our visual perception. Yet, what we see is not necessarily determined
by the light that enters our eyes. Inside them, a lens bends the incoming light, flipping the image that is projected onto
the retina upside down. Moreover, this image is overlaid with subtle shadows cast by blood vessels in front of the retina.
Despite this, we don’t perceive the world upside down, nor are our views cluttered with these shadows.
Do You Not See That You Do Not See? emphasises this illusion of not-seeing. A hidden structure is encapsulated by an outer layer reflecting its environment. Is what we see, in fact, truly outside of us, or are we guided by illusions?
