This work is inspired by a lie. “Risk of infection: FFP3 masks are effective against Corona”* is the title of a fact-check
by Charlotte from November 2020 which countered a facebook post that claimed quite the opposite. More than 2 years later,
the COVID-19 pandemic has left the center of concern, but the ways of misinformation still wind through our lives in public
and private discourses.
Displayed are the words of this false report. They are cut into magnetic pieces to be rearranged into almost endless variations. This work plays with the structure of a text that can be a lie, but simultaneously entails the possibility to be broken, deformed and arranged into something new. “Faktencheck” is a poetic and speculative inquiry into ways of storytelling that test truth and falsehood.
The visitors are invited to touch and play with the installation. What stories might still unfold from here?
