Illuminating Movement

Glass, like us, remembers. It is amorphous, it slowly moves, and it keeps traces of touch and movement. It encapsulates stress, it breaks, it crystallises.

Illuminating Movement visualises projections of light through a gravity-stretched glass sheet. It shows its last dramatic movement—a movement that happened while it was in between liquid and glass state. Do we have clear traces kept within us? Are we amorphously shaped, ever changing?

The piece can be seen through two layers—the inner objects that create the patterns, and the outer wood and paper walls, creating a projection screen and allowing the separation of movement patterns from the objects themselves.

Special thanks to Ludwig Bachmann for his significant contribution to this artwork.
