“Inside the Box” is an art installation that highlights the possibility of overcoming the traditional educational norms that
most people are raised with. Viewers are encouraged to pull the curtains aside and take a seat inside the box. Take some time
to play with the toys and eat a piece of candy. Pick up the flashlight and explore the pictures inside the box. There is a
collage depicting a project in which people of varying ages were asked to lick something, such as a monument or museum exhibit,
which would usually discourage licking or other non-traditional forms of engagement. It was observed that: the older the person,
the more hesitant they were to lick something, usually due to fear of societal judgement. The outside of the box depicts quotes
both from the process of collecting the licking photos, and from educational spaces which were impactful during the artist’s
youth.
