Moving Forward in Reverse Time With drawkcaB Compass

Concept

As a part of the & initiative, artists Joanna Zabielska, Cat Jimenez and Miloš Vučićević have been invited by Improper Walls curators to collaborate on an art show.Their installation represents the unity of three artistic practices (the methods, approach and process of creating). While dealing with social and spatial issues, the transformation of the objects, as well as objects of ”mass-production”, the trio involves a performative approach set in a forest atmosphere as an interactive part in itself. The idea behind it is closely related to both a migrant situation and the situation of being somewhere else; transforming the gallery space into “elsewhere space”, or “somewhere space”.In its physical presentation, the artwork questions the definition of polarity and the perception of time. Although it is aiming to decentralize our geographical positions and alienate the viewer from the defined perceptions, this xeno-realistic interaction in space is primarily a conversation about East and West points of view, the demystification of a subject coming from other countries and the experience of living in the West through the forms of newly created constraints due to COVID-19.
