Repositioning

I am currently researching the nomadic nature of human beings and how it is reflected in the foundation of a political and continental organ such as Europe. This will be analysed through its geographical and political borders, its current migration issue, and local and foreign artists. My discipline is that of "Repositioning". Though still a working title, ‘repositioning’ refers to the action of moving from one place to the other. It is when one changes his/her body position towards a physical location.

This discipline intends to study the movement of people across world history and what has caused this behavior. It specifies the action of moving into the notion of (self) repositioning, referring to Man.

World and human history shows us that when one new element is added to an already existed social construction both sides become affected. Both sides change, both give up certain aspects in order to fit the other. It’s the foundation of social behavior and connection.

Hence, the discipline of ‘repositioning’ aims to demonstrate the cause and effect of this relationship. What happens to the self when it is relocated to a new place, and what happens to this new location with the presence of someone new? How do we affect a place and become affected by it?

These questions are the basis of my research and what I am trying to achieve with this investigation, while at the same time understanding how borders shape our understanding of the world and society, and how sensitive these borders are to being altered.

The process of this investigation relies, so far, in an extensive field research and collection of found artifacts related to the inhabitation of different cultures in one place; this being a park, a city, a country or a continent.
