In “paula i“ photographs of women are cut up, intertwined, rearranged, woven and mixed in ways that cancel out the consumption of the woman as an image. Through this process, the intention is to portray the violent fragmentation of a female subjectivity that emerges as a result of the imposed contradictory ideals that shape womanhood. By making explicit the constructed aspect of it, the possibility of creating other configurations arises. Drawing from the idea that social structures rely on memory for their reproduction, the question this work poses is what could a woman be if we re-imagined and re-membered ourselves beyond the pattern of patriarchal dominance.
