ELCH EMIL

In 2025, a young moose, baptised Emil by the media, wandered across Austria and became an unexpected national celebrity. His
route, reported live across newsfeeds, turned into a spectacle that led to “Elch Emil” being named Austria’s Word of the Year.
The work tells of his journey in fragments, echoing the rhythm of scrolling, refreshing, and forgetting. It examines how our
collective memory is shaped through the compulsive tempo of media and digital consumption. By placing wilderness inside a
technological interface, Elch Emil becomes a contemporary fable of attention and belonging, inviting viewers to question whether
we still encounter the world itself or only its mediated reflections.
