Three Exhibitions: Master's Projects | Licking Structures | Not It

This year Art & Science will exhibit at the Angewandte Festival at various locations.

Not It exhibition

Expositur Georg-Coch-Platz 2 (ehem. Postsparkasse)
Art & Science Department Rooms 037-044 and Kassenhalle
Tuesday 27 – Friday 30 June 2023
11am–9pm

This year our studio has been the busiest since a while, it is filled with nonsensical notes, failed experiments and abandoned ideas; aftermath of making “It”.

We invite you to share the familiar emptiness of a studio after the dust settles and "It" has been made. Solo and collective works will be on display in our studio and in our very own Kunstverein PSK. Our busiest studio space is left untouched to give you a look behind the scenes as an invitation to our two other venues where all It is.

Licking Structures

23 June – 2 July 2023: Künstlerhaus Factory, Karlsplatz 5, 1010 Vienna

Details

The Art & Science department presents “Licking Structures” an exhibition dealing with experimental approaches to our annual topic of crystallization. The focus of this exhibition is questioning the power structures of academic knowledge production in a playful and artistic way that aims to be accessible to a broader public.  The title “Licking Structures.” refers to the practice of licking as both an experimental method in geology and archeology and as what children do to empirically explore the world around them. “Licking Structures” also represents the dissolution and erosion of (old) structures and dichotomies. With a sense of the relevance of diversity, the exhibition shows various works that capture both the concrete and abstract meanings of crystallization. These ideas will be presented in a transgressive manner, which breaks down the barriers that often stand in front of the artistic and scientific communities.

Curated, arranged and promoted solely by the Art & Science students.
