On the initiative and mediation of Nicholas and as part of the "Transdisziplinarity in Art & Science" class and the "Radical Matter" project we invited American curator Jennifer Teets to give a public lecture and a workshop. Both events were closely connected to the year’s class theme of ‘Crystallization’ and the thematic approach ‘Licking Structures’ of our exhibition in the Künstlerhaus. Jennifer spoke about the cultural technique of geophagy, the eating of healing clay, among other topics. During the workshop Dr. Ruth Kutalek a medical anthropologist from the Center for Public Health (Department of Social and Preventive Medicine) of the Medical University in Vienna, brought along clay and soil samples to share with the students and characterised geophagy as networked practice and an independent economy.
