Tonica Hunter

Tonica Hunter (BA, MSc) is a researcher, curator and DJ originally from London and based in Vienna since 2014. Since moving to Austria, she has built up a portfolio as a freelance independent curator for discourse, music/performance and visual arts. In her course ‘ars sciendi (the art of knowing)’ Tonica explores the queer art of failure and unknowing as well as foregrounding sensuous, marginalised, non-academic art/science knowledge. Tonica has been teaching “ars sciendi (the art of knowing)” since the winter semester 2023/24.

guest lecture “from its Latin root “curare” to take care” at Kunst uni Graz for the Master Course “Masterstudium Musik- und Theatervermittlung”  on 02.05 - part of the Lehrveranstaltung “Kunst- undTheaterdiskurse (Diskriminierungskritik)” invited by Dr Sieglinde Roth.

“*endlich ein wokes thema*“ curation of two part side programme at Burgtheater - 16.05 “*and there are many more stories to tell*“  and 15.06 “European art music and the Black contemporary” - the side programme is for the first Black female directed- and BIPOC cast only play at the Burgtheater: Cypressenburg.
