About - Lindsey Nicholson

Born 1978 in the UK, Lindsey is an Assistant Professor in Atmospheric and Cryospheric Science at the University of Innsbruck and a practicing artist. Her work explores the boundaries of scientific and artistic inquiry/understanding and how they can generate meaning in society - always reveling in the personal process, but never yet happy with the product.

Girls on Ice Austria is a project to organize cost-free immersive art/science/adventure expeditions to a glacier for young female identifying people with the idea to expand their horizons, push their boundaries and crate new leaders to help forge our path towards a society that supports a sustainable livable planet  for the future.

The whole project is led by women for women, and involves mentorship following the model of ‘if she can see it she can be it’. Female earth scientists, mountain guides and artists work together with the participants to create a special learning and growing experience on a glacier in the Ötztal.
