Music has a strong influence on living beings, including plants, animals, and, of course, humans. The ways in which these are affected might differ (may it be physical, biological, psychological, social) but still all seem to respond to the stimulus. Why should some of the most basic organisms on earth, bacteria, be the exception from this principle? In an approach to pinpoint their reaction, lactic acid bacteria were treated with different kinds of music while they did their work of producing yoghurt from milk.
