THIS IS NOT A DREAM (Performance)
In “THIS IS NOT A DREAM!”, a sound installation is created by linking various audiovisual media and devices. The horror video game “Silent Hill” (Konami, 1999), known for its imposing sound design, is played in a public space. The sound of the game is tapped and passed onto musical equipment (synthesizers and effects pedals), where it is manipulated by members of the performance team and audience.Xavi Sosa is a sound performer from Asuncion, Paraguay. They went to acting School in Asuncion and worked on many plays there as an actor, director’s assistant and sound technician, as well as an independent musician. In 2017, they moved to Vienna where they received a BA in Political Science at the University of Vienna. Interested in combining social and political theory with artistic research practices, Xavi’s work deals with questions of power, ideology, and identity. Currently, they create conceptual works using sound as their main medium.
