Phin Anibal is a visual artist and a behavioral ecologist. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor of Arts in studio art with a concentration in drawing and thesis in sculpture, as well as a Bachelor of Science in behavioral ecology. He then completed the Interdisciplinary Masters program in Human-Animal Interactions (IMHAI) at the Messerli Research Institute, Vedmeduni Vienna. During that program he volunteered and conducted research on avian behavior and cognition at the Kea Lab in Bad Vöslau prior to completing a fieldwork-based thesis project investigating experience and communication in amphibians. These studies led to an exploration of the intersections of sculpture and ecology, resulting in a 2023 artist residency at Shoals Marine lab, Maine, USA, and a continued interest in the combination of scientific research and art practice.
