Kemal Ata Öner

Ata Öner is a Turkish multidisciplinary artist and video editor based in Vienna, working across video, installation and visual experimentation. He investigates the points in which memory becomes unreliable: in the distance between what happened, what remains, and what is repeatedly reconstructed. Approaching nostalgia, not just as a longing for the past but as a force capable of reshaping the present and manipulating the illusion of objectivity. Rather than seeking to preserve memory intact, Öner is interested in what happens when it begins to decompose, mutate, or become something else entirely. Muting videos and adding completely different captions.
