Mehrta Shirzadian (b. 1994) is a performance and multimedia artist and artistic researcher. With a background in molecular biology, mathematics, and computer science, she transforms scientific perspectives into performative and interdisciplinary practices that explore microbial life, sound, and bodily ecologies. Her work engages deeply with embodiment, vulnerability, and agency.
She creates sensorial and participatory experiences that critically address the politics of representation within capitalist and neoliberal frameworks. Drawing from posthuman feminism, her projects investigate how bodies, human and nonhuman, are entangled in systems of power, knowledge, and cultural display.
