About - Noor Stenfert Kroese

Noor Stenfert Kroese is a new media artist and researcher with a background in performance art, scenography, and mycology. She explores biomediated interactions between humans, living organisms, and robotics through media art and performative installations.

She combines her artistic practice with her PhD research at the Creative Robotics Lab, University of Arts Linz. Her research focuses on data storytelling of living organisms, fungi-inspired biocomputing, and (non-)human interactions with industrial robotics. She develops sensor-based methods within bio arts and biofabrication to explore meaningful interactions between humans, non-human organisms, and technology.

She works as a lecturer at the University of Arts Linz and as a University Assistant in the Master’s program Art & Science at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (dieAngewandte). Within the programme she supports students both conceptually and technically: with first-year students she develops the annual Art & Science exhibition in her lecture Collaborative Exhibition Making, and in the bi-weekly Art & Science Forum she invites reflection on the field of Art&Science while supporting the development of each student’s practice through dialogue and peer exchange.
